Hearing loss around the world: Your impact
wednesday, November 28, 2018 - Washington, d.c.
AG Bell has been building on a long history of supporting children as they grow through numerous services and programs designed to help them succeed. Our resources reach more than 20,000 people every week, and more than two million people around the world come to our website for information, guidance and a way forward, such as through our newly launched Listen-Learn-Link: New Parent Hotline.
Through AG Bell’s Financial Aid Program, we have helped 7,200 families provide their child with hearing technology, therapy, education and enrichment along their journey from silence to sound.
Additionally, AG Bell’s Leadership Opportunities for Teens Program (LOFT) has empowered 484 teens as they transition into adulthood through self-advocacy training and support. We have provided $2.3 million in scholarships to 800 high-achieving college students attending universities across the United States and placed 25 outstanding college students with mentors in university auditory research laboratories focused on excellence in science-based careers.
Children who have benefited from this support and these services are excelling and integrating into mainstream life. They are entering careers with confidence, capable of becoming self-reliant, advocating for themselves to achieve their goals and thriving in today’s ever-changing world.
As we embark on a global journey to spread awareness about hearing loss and empower those with hearing loss to succeed, we invite you to join in on our mission. Your support of the 2018 AG Bell Global Gala will transform the lives of children with hearing loss and their families, ensuring that each child can hear and talk and live a life without limits.
Creating a Limitless World for Children and Adults with Hearing Loss
In keeping with AG Bell’s mission to provide education and information to empower families of children and adults with hearing loss, proceeds from the 2018 Global Gala will help to fund scholarships for college students with hearing loss as well as enhance educational resources and financial aid for families.
VIP Reception and Interactive Exhibition
The evening will begin with a VIP reception in honor of our awardees and presenters for leadership-level table and ticket buyers. A general reception featuring seasonal cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will also take place as guests arrive. Guests will be ushered through a special interactive exhibition featuring highlights of AG Bell’s partnerships and work around the globe.
Dinner and Special Guests
An elegant three-course seated dinner will take place in the Mellon Auditorium’s striking Great Hall (pictured above, left). AG Bell’s program partners Justin Osmond, of the musical Osmond family, special guests as well as others from the hearing loss community have been invited to join our awards program. The evening will include an awards presentation, musical performance and live auction. Following dinner, AG Bell will host a themed after party with fun music, specialty cocktails, and dancing.
